Jeanne Demory Post, MSW, LCSW grew up in Fairfax County, Virginia. She attended Florida International University in Miami, Florida, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social work (magna cum laude) in December 1992. She then moved with her husband and two children to Annapolis, Maryland, and attended the prestigious School of Social Work at the University of Maryland at Baltimore earning a Master of Social Work with a clinical emphasis and a specialization in aging (summa cum laude) in May 1996. She has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers since graduate school and is a member of the American Society on Aging and the Forum on Religion, Spirituality and Aging.
Ms. Post has practiced predominately in medical settings providing therapy to individuals, families, and groups. In January 2005 she joined Counseling & Psychological Associates, P.A. in private practice working with adolescents, adults, and geriatric clients in individual, family, and group settings. In her practice, she conducts a range of mental health services including treatment for depression, grief and loss, anxiety disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and adjustment to significant life events including chronic and terminal illness.
Until January 2005, Ms. Post was the clinical coordinator and medical social worker for the Memory Disorder Clinic at West Florida Hospital and the regional coordinator for the State of Florida Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative Brain Bank and Research Program. In 2003 she was inducted into the Council on Aging of West Florida’s Hall of Fame in recognition of her dedication to the well-being of persons with Alzheimer’s disease and their families. Before joining West Florida Hospital, Ms. Post spent several years in the Baltimore/Annapolis area providing in-patient and home-care hospice social work services to patients and their family members. She is a clinical instructor for the Florida State University College of Medicine, Pensacola Campus, and a field instruction supervisor for the University of West Florida School of Social Work. She has extensive experience as a training and group facilitator and has been a frequent guest lecturer at health care conferences, civic meetings, and public seminars on the subjects of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, caregiver burnout, and stress management. She has also traveled to several southern states teaching physical, occupational, and speech therapists about the psychosocial aspects of rehabilitation.
